Dr. Josuha Appel
Dr. Andrew Joshua Appel is an orthopedic surgeon certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. He specializes in the treatment of neck, back, and spine injuries and disease. He has performed a variety of surgical procedures including hip and knee replacements and spinal cord reconstructive surgery. Throughout his career, he has treated a myriad of orthopedic defects such as spondylitis, spinal cord tumors, degenerative diseases, orthopedic trauma, and fractures. He also has a special interest in minimally invasive and muscle-sparing approaches to orthopedic medicine.
Dr. Appel earned his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina College of Medicine in 1998. He did his post-graduate training at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island where he was a Resident in the General Surgery Department and did an Orthopedic Spine Fellowship. He currently is licensed by the State of Florida and was previously licensed in South Carolina and New York.
Dr. Appel has been published in several peer journals and abstracts. He has also given a number of lectures and presentations on topics such as spinal fusion, surgical approaches to the foot, and ankylosing spondylitis, and total hip arthroplasty. Dr. Appel served as a teacher’s assistant in Microbiology, Anatomy, Physiology, and Molecular Genetics at Georgia State University and served as the team physician for Brown University’s Lacrosse team. Dr. Appel is also an accomplished triathlete.
