Dr. Barry Schapiro
Dr. Barry E. Schapiro specializes in arthroscopic knee, shoulder, hip, ankle, and wrist surgery, as well as complex ligament reconstruction and total knee, hip, and shoulder replacement surgery. He has extensive training in orthopedic traumatology and management of extremity trauma and fractures. Dr. Schapiro utilizes advanced cartilage and joint preserving techniques and minimally invasive procedures to get his patients back to their active lifestyles.
Dr. Schapiro is double board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and the American Board of Anti-Aging and Regenerative Medicine with a Certificate of Added Qualification in Sports Medicine. He has been inducted into Fellowship by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He is also an associate clinical professor at Nova Southeastern University.
Dr. Schapiro received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Florida in 1994 where he graduated with distinction on the President’s Honor Roll for having a perfect 4.0-grade point average. He received his medical degree from the University of Miami in 2000 where he was a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society and graduated in the top 10 percent of his class. He was also a member of the Iota Epsilon Alpha International Medical Honor Society and the Golden Key National Honor Society. He completed his orthopedic residency at Henry Ford Health Systems, a Level I Trauma Center, in Detroit, MI in 2005 and as a resident was awarded the Robert H. Frost, M.D. Memorial Award for Outstanding Research. In addition, he received Medical School Clerkship Honors in Surgery, Family Medicine, Pediatrics, and Generalist Primary Care.
